President of the Republic of Congo
and dedicated Chairman of the CEMAC Economic and Financial Reform Programme (PREF-CEMAC)
Round table on infrastructure financing in Central Africa, CEMAC zone
Placed under the High Patronage of His Excellency Mr. Denis SASSOU N'GUESSO, President of the Republic of Congo and Dedicated President of PREF-CEMAC, la Table Ronde de Paris s’est tenue les 28 et 29 novembre 2023 The primary objective of this event is to raise funds for the implementation of the thirteen projects outlined in the second program.
Under this second program, the governing bodies of CEMAC and its Member States aspire to diversify funding sources, emphasising financing from concessions, blended finance, and public-private partnerships. The aim is to respect the sustainability of public debt ratios within the CEMAC countries.
The funds mobilised during this Round Table will enable the countries of the CEMAC zone (i) to establish transport, electricity, and telecommunications infrastructure without which no economic development is possible, (ii) to strengthen the resilience of the Sub-region's economies against future shocks, (iii) to develop intra-community trade to ensure food security and further benefit from the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), (iv) to contribute to the fight against climate change, the improvement of employment and income (especially youth, rural populations and women) and (v) to strengthen technical and financial support for local processing of natural resources industries, particularly timber, and to accelerate the industrialisation of the economies of the Sub-region.
